This documentary is about a group of young people in their twenties and thirties who lived in Yaoyang, Hunan Province, when SARS attacked China in 2003. In the hope of grabbing quick cash, Hong Wei and his wife run an illegal Mahjong gambling house. Their neighbors are also young and restless couples hoping to live a decent life in the midst of a hopeless reality. Another character in the documentary runs a massage parlor and finds herself forced to give up decency under the pressure of reality.
